Providing Treatment Promptly

Not only is the early detection of eye diseases and conditions important, but so is early treatment. Leaving certain eye concerns untreated can lead to potential damage and vision loss over time if not cared for.

We know that discussing eye conditions and diseases can be intimidating but our team is here to give you the treatment and continued care that you need.

Common Eye Conditions & Diseases

There are a handful of eye concerns we check for when providing a comprehensive eye exam. Learn a little more about common eye diseases, conditions, and how they are treated:

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a disease characterized by damage to the optic nerve due to built-up pressure in the eye. This can cause blind spots and vision loss in the eye if left untreated.

Treatments for glaucoma include medication to help with eye pressure, laser treatments to help drain excess fluid, as well as surgery.

A Cataract is a condition in which the lens of the eye becomes cloudy causing vision to be hazy or blurry.

If cataracts are not in an advanced stage, a new prescription can help provide clearer vision. However, often surgery may be required to replace the eye’s lens.

Diabetic Retinopathy occurs in those with type 1 or type 2 diabetes where blood vessels in the retina become damaged causing vision problems or even total loss

Treatment for Diabetic Retinopathy includes injections, laser treatments, or surgical repair.

AMD occurs when the macula of the eye deteriorates with age and becomes damaged. The macula is located in the retina and controls your central vision and sharpness. Early AMD often has no symptoms, but as AMD progresses your vision can become wavy and blurry.

Treatment for later-stage AMD can include medications, supplements and laser treatments to repair and help slow down deterioration.
